In December 2010 the Galerie Knoell launched its exhibition activity in the premises of the Erasmushaus in Basel. Since 2016, a second location belongs to the gallery which is located next door in Luftgässlein 4 and opposite the Antikenmuseum as well as in the immediate vicinity of the Kunstmuseum Basel.

The gallery’s programme has been continuously dedicated to different artistic expressions, positions and trends featuring old master paintings as well as engagements with contemporary art forms. From the start, an ongoing interest in the independence, sincerity and timelessness of artistic positions which endures over the centuries has formed the general basis of our activity. Artists of the gallery are Per Kirkeby, Markus Lüpertz, Maki Na Kamura. An emphasis is also placed on 'Konstruktive Kunst' with works by Max Bill, Karl Gerstner, Georges Vantongerloo, Josef Albers, Verena Loewensberg and Antonio Calderara.

Besides the exhibitions, the art trade is an important pillar of the gallery. Since 2018 the gallery participates in international art fairs.
